Rock of Gibraltar was a sensational miler in Europe and perhaps the best runner ever sired by his legendary sire Danehill. He was a multiple group one winner at two, a campaign that would somehow pale in comparison to what he did at three. During his sophomore season in 2002 he won all of Europe’s top mile races, the St. James Palace, the Sussex, the Prix du Moulin, the 2000 Guineas, the Irish 2000 Guineas, an incredible five group ones. Only an extremely troubled second in the Breeders’ Cup Mile kept him from conquering America as well.
