SKY MESA - PURE PEDIGREE

Sky Mesa
2000 Pulpit-Caress by Storm Cat
Standing at Three Chimneys Farm
2005 Stud Fee: $30,000
It was appropriate that Sky Mesa won the prestigious Hopeful
at Saratoga in 2002. The roster of Hopeful winners includes
Secretariat, Affirmed, Buckpasser, Hail to Reason, Native
Dancer, and Nashua. Each of those legends can be found not
only in the Hall of Fame but also in the pedigree of Sky
Mesa. After his win in New York, Sky Mesa then went to Keeneland
for the $400,000 G2 Breeders' Futurity, where he cruised
to a four-length victory in his first try around two turns.
Sky Mesa completed his juvenile campaign with three wins
in three starts, and a 122-pound rating on the Experimental
Free Handicap, third best of his generation. A series of
minor ailments derailed Sky Mesa's Classic aspirations,
but he re-emerged on the racetrack in early summer, posting
game efforts in the Grade II Dwyer and $1,000,000 Grade
I Haskell, where he defeated dual Classic winner Funny Cide
by more than seven lengths. Sky Mesa is the complete sire
package: race record, great looks and pure pedigree.
