NEWS:

BRYAN STATION STakes at Keeneland

Get Stormy never was far back before grabbing the lead in mid-stretch and pulling away to a 11/2-length victory in the Oct. 18 Bryan Station Stakes (gr. III) at Keeneland. It was the third consecutive victory for the 3-year-old colt in a one-mile turf event. He scored by three lengths in an allowance race at Saratoga July 29 and then won the Lure Stakes at the same track Aug. 29. His winning time in the Bryan Station, over a yielding course, was 1:37.49. Favored Kinsella finished third.

Javier Castellano rode Get Stormy in both the Lure and the Bryan Station. The jockey won three races the day of the Bryan Station, taking a seven-furlong allowance/optional claiming event aboard Unspoken Word and a 11/2-mile allowance on Floating Heart in addition to scoring with Get Stormy at Keeneland.

"I handicapped this race; there was a little speed in the race," said Castellano after the Bryan Station. "I just left him close to the pace, and he responded very well today."

Get Stormy, who was the fourth betting choice in the Bryan Station, is trained by Thomas Bush. Mary Sullivan bred the colt in Kentucky and races him in the name of her Sullimar Stables.

Amerigo's Fancy (by Amerigo), the fourth dam of Get Stormy, won a division of the Escondido Handicap at Del Mar in 1966, scored in the Rancho Santa Fe Handicap at the same track in 1967, and captured a division of the Santa Barbara Handicap at Santa Anita Park in 1968. She produced Trillionaire (by Vaguely Noble), winner of the 1978 Princess Royal Stakes (Eng-III), and Solar Current (by Little Current), who won the 1980 Spokane Handicap at Longacres.

Stormy Atlantic is the sire of Get Stormy and 51 other added-money winners. In addition to Get Stormy, the stallion's 13 stakes winners this year include Reb (gr. IIT) and My Princess Jess (gr. III). Stormy Atlantic stands at John Sikura's Hill Ôn' Dale Farms near Lexington. The syndicated stallion had a 2009 live foal stud fee of $45,000.ÐD.B.B.
